364 days out of the year, this graveyard remains completely dormant and lifeless. But on one single day, the skeletons wake up, rise out of their graves, and...look at the giant bluish-purple thing in their vicinity and ask, "What the hell is that thing?" After all, most of them have been dead for over 500 years - long before "that thing" came to be. Also, it would take someone who is awake a lot more often than one day a year for them to grow accustomed to seeing "that thing" tower so menacingly above them. Especially when it emits the sound of humans screaming at the top of their lungs from time to time.
